What makes a product memorable?

When we think of products, we think of much more than the product and the service it gives us. We think of the experience it gives us, from the moment we see its logo and hear its slogan, to the moment we purchase and use it. And everything in the experience, except for the actual service of the product, is created through branding.


What is branding?

Branding is the set of features applied to a product or a company, in order to make it recognizable and distinctive to the consumer. These features are determined through market  research and creative asset development. 

Think of McDonalds, for example. All across the globe, the name McDonalds is accompanied with the red and yellow logo, with its giant M hovering over most of its restaurants. 

The branding of this chain is so intricately woven into our culture, that it is almost impossible to separate the name and logo from the first idea that pops into people's heads when they hear 'fast food'. 

That being said, McDonalds didn't reach its branding glory overnight, since having a successful branding requires building a bridge between your consumers and your brand brick by brick—which requires time and resources. So why is it so important to invest in branding?
